Im the vegatarian that posted awhile ago. I think the reusing is great. I would never buy furrs or anything like that new, but I find that when you are recycling an animal product like that it is already dead so you might as well give it a greater use. It's not wasting anything and if you wouldn't wear it (say it was from an old coat) the dead animal should have a purpose for its death. I have no clue if I am making sense here.... As for all the pets originally being made out of animals, it was probably rabbit fur. It is sometimes used for purposes like that and I have seen it before (I have two little cats made out of rabbit fur from prevegetarian and knowing what I am buying days) I wouldn't buy the dolls animals if they were still made from real fur but I would get them off a place like ebay currently. The animals are already dead, if they aren't in a home that cares for them the piece might as well be loved. Sorry for rambling on...

I'm against humans wearing animal skins. I think it's wrong to kill animals just for their fur. I wouldn't want to put any real fur items on my dolls, if it's a cheetah print, but it's clearly faux cheetah, I might put it on my dolls, but that is very unlikely.

I used to have a piece of rabbit fur (got it from an Indian museum when I was in 4th grade) and I had to throw it away a few years ago- it started to shed! My cat shedding is one thing because she is alive, but rabbit fur shedding that is just the fur- yuck!

I'm going to stay out of this for the most part but wanted to add one thing to the list of cautions-- most furs are treated with chemicals (to prevent them from decomposing, to maintain the fur). Those chemicals can be harsh. I have no idea what they are or if they would harm vinyl, but I wouldn't risk it.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Yes, as far as I can tell on all my Kaya items, they are all sythetic and/or simulated. There is questions to the feather in Kaya's hood, it says real, but it doesn't feel or look real when I look at it. If animal product were used it would probably say, "made with real..."

I'm against wearing real fur or anything like that, unless they do what some Native American shops do:Wait 'til the animal dies,or use every single peice of the animal.

I don't have any really strong feelings on fur, but I don't have a desire to own clothing made from it. Mostly I'm not crazy about the way it looks. Furry clothes is weird. My mom has a few old fur wraps that her friend didn't want that she plans to turn into doll clothes. I think they'll be cute enough. I have the original cats and dog from AG that were made of fur, and they aren't all that cute, but they're soft! My most favorite teddy bear is made of rabbit fur. My parents bought him for me in Alaska about 18 years ago. He's never had a bug problem, but he's losing fur in patches and even the hide underneath is starting to crumble away. So there is an issue with lasting. Teddy has spent plenty of time hanging out with my dolls, so the fur doesn't seem to bother the vinyl. However Teddy is probably so covered in my oils and drool he's got little left of his original ooating.
